DataNet/DIBBs Vision Paper
Goal
In a similar spirit to the 2016 Essawy et al paper we aim to draft a vision paper describing a scenario that connects together the NSF DataNet and DIBBs data infrastructure components towards enabling scientific discovery within one or more use cases.
Potential Connections
- DIBBs GABBs available within DataNet DFC via CyVerse
- DataNet DataONE as a repository within DataNet SEAD - done
- DataNet DataONE member node software dockerized and available within DataNet DFC via CyVerse
- Implement REST Gateway to Cyverse Discovery Environment within DataNet DFC so others can access workflows there - done
- Run HydroShare workflows in DataNet Federation Consortium Cyverse Discovery Environment and notify when complete - in progress
- DIBBs Brown Dog extractors/converters available in DataNet SEAD - extractors done, converters plugin would need to be enabled
- DIBBs Brown Dog as a microservice within iRODS as part of the DataNet Federation Consortium
- DIBBs Brown Dog command line interface containerized within CyVerse as part of the DataNet Federataion Consortium
- DIBBs Brown Dog API utilized within DIBBs GABBs to transform model inputs/outputs
- DIBBs Brown Dog API utilized within DataNet DataONE to offer alternative means to download data - NSF ABI PEcAn use case
- The nascent Universally Accessible Data Publications Pilot could allow any of the proposed scenarios that involve one system reading the publications from another to be done via a common mechanism...

Notes
- James Myers Rebecca mentioned the outcomes from the interop working group at NDSC6 would be useful here. Can you add any notes you have? Kenton McHenry - added a link to the initial pilot wiki pages above. If anyone has notes beyond that, I'll try to make sure they get integrated there. I'd also encourage any one reading this page to help make this pilot relevant to the paper by participating...
- Potential to dockerize SLASH2 within DIBBs Data Exacell
